Web Design and Lead
Generation in Oakland County.
We are in Waterford, which is to say we are in it. This is our home county and the one we know best, with clients in Waterford, White Lake, Auburn Hills, Ortonville and Troy.
It is also the most economically varied county in Michigan, and that changes how you should be marketing more than anything else on this page.

What we do for Oakland County businesses
Six things. Which of them matters most depends entirely on which Oakland County you are in, and the town pages below say so individually.
- Local SEO The default answer across most of the county, and the wrong answer in a couple of towns. It wins cheaply in Pontiac and up north, it is table stakes in Royal Oak, and in Birmingham it is genuinely not the mechanism that brings you work.
- Web design and development The site itself, and the thing that carries the most weight in Troy and Birmingham where buyers read before they call. Elsewhere in the county it supports the profile rather than leading.
- Google Ads management Worth it where the season is short or the customer is a commuter. Clarkston has a published event calendar to buy against, Auburn Hills has a daytime population that does not live there, and both of those are paid problems.
- Print design and printing Still real, and worth most in walkable centers and among the trades. A yard sign in a dense neighborhood does more per dollar than most digital in the same place.
- Ecommerce and portals Selling online or a portal. Concentrated in Troy and the retail centers, rare everywhere else, and we will tell you when a shared folder does it for free.
- Logo design and branding Only where it earns its money, which in this county mostly means Birmingham and the places that are judged on presentation before price.
You are serving four different Oakland Counties, and the advice inverts between them. What works in Birmingham is close to the opposite of what works in Pontiac, and a plan bought off the shelf for the county as a whole will be wrong for wherever you actually are. The town pages exist because of that, not for keyword coverage.
What that means for your website
One homepage cannot speak to a Bloomfield Hills kitchen remodel and a Pontiac rental turnover. Trying makes it vague enough to lose both.
-
Pick your primary segment
Write the homepage to one of them, the one producing your best margin, not your most volume. Everything else gets its own page.
-
Separate the service pages by job type
“Kitchen remodel” and “rental turnover” are different pages, different photos and different language, even if the crew is the same.
-
Let pricing sort people
Published starting prices do more segmenting than any form field. The customers who leave were never going to be profitable.
-
Match the contact method
Royal Oak wants to book online. Bloomfield wants to reach a person. The lake communities will text you. Offer all three rather than picking one.
-
Photograph the right work
Your portfolio is your positioning. Lead with the jobs you want more of, not the most recent ones.
The most common mistake here is being a generalist in a county wealthy enough to reward specialists.
You are serving four different Oakland Counties
Bloomfield Hills and Pontiac are ten minutes apart and could not buy more differently. Most businesses here market to one of these four and wonder why the other three do not respond.
1. The high end
Bloomfield Hills · Birmingham · Bloomfield Twp · Franklin · parts of West Bloomfield
Referral-driven and reputation-driven. These customers will not price shop you, but they will absolutely read your reviews, look at your photos, and judge you on how fast you reply and how you write.
The jobs are larger, the expectations are higher, and a single bad review does disproportionate damage because the network is tight.
What sells here: photography of finished work, specific credentials, a site that looks considered, and responsiveness. What does not: discounting, urgency tactics, or a homepage that leads with price.
2. The established suburbs
Troy · Rochester Hills · Novi · Farmington Hills · Beverly Hills · Auburn Hills
Professional, research-driven, and genuinely likely to get three quotes and compare them properly. Many work in engineering, healthcare, finance or the automotive supply chain, people who evaluate for a living.
They will read your whole website before calling, and they notice when something is vague.
What sells here: published pricing, clear process, licensing and insurance stated plainly, and detail. This is the segment where transparency wins outright. What does not: “call for a quote” with nothing else on the page.
3. The lake communities
Waterford · White Lake · Commerce · Clarkston · Lake Orion · Highland · Orion Twp
A genuinely different economy, and the one people from outside the county miss entirely. Oakland County has hundreds of inland lakes, and the businesses around them run on a calendar all of their own, docks in and out, seawalls, boat lifts, lake landscaping, winterization, spring commissioning.
Word of mouth is very strong here and the same names come up repeatedly. More price-aware than the segments above, and more likely to know a guy.
What sells here: being local and visibly so, seasonal timing, and showing up in the neighborhood Facebook groups where these decisions actually get made. What does not: looking like an out-of-town operation.
4. The dense south
Royal Oak · Ferndale · Madison Heights · Oak Park · Berkley · Hazel Park · Huntington Woods
Walkable downtowns, smaller lots, older housing stock, and a younger customer base. Different trades thrive here, restaurants, bars, salons, tattoo studios, med spas, fitness, and the renovation trades working on hundred-year-old houses.
Jobs are smaller and more frequent. Social proof does more work than anywhere else in the county, and a lot of discovery happens on a phone while standing somewhere.
What sells here: reviews, photos, booking online rather than calling, and being findable on a phone in three seconds. What does not: a phone-only contact method.
And the part that gets left out
Pontiac · parts of Waterford and Southfield · the rental corridors
More rental property, more landlord and investor customers, and more work that is bought on price and turnaround rather than on finish. It is real, recurring, unglamorous revenue, and a landlord with twelve units is a better customer than a homeowner with one house, because they call again.
What sells here: speed, availability, straight pricing, and being someone who answers. What does not: a slow quoting process.
The lakes economy
Worth its own section, because it is the part of this county that outside agencies do not know exists.
Oakland County has hundreds of inland lakes and the businesses serving them run on a calendar nobody else uses. Dock installation and removal, seawall repair, boat lift service, shoreline landscaping, lake weed treatment, marine electrical, winterization, spring commissioning.
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Mar–Apr | Everyone wants their dock in and their lift serviced at the same time. Whoever is bookable in February wins the season. |
| May–Aug | Repairs, weed treatment, and anything that broke. Emergency-shaped work. |
| Sep–Oct | Removal season, and the same compression in reverse. |
| Nov–Feb | Seawall work when the water is down, and the only quiet stretch there is. |
Two things follow. Booking has to open before the rush, a business taking spring bookings in February beats one taking them in April, regardless of who ranks better. And lake-name searches are real: people search “dock installation Cass Lake” rather than “dock installation Waterford”, and almost nobody has built for that.
If this is your business, say so on the call. The standard local SEO setup is wrong for you, your service area is a set of lakes rather than a set of towns, and your season is shorter and sharper than anything on the Michigan calendar. We would rather build the right thing than the standard thing.
Where Oakland County actually sits
Our home county. Look at how different the north end is from the south, because that difference is the point.
Two things are worth reading off that map before you spend money on local search here.
- Wealth is not evenly spread and neither is competition. The south of the county is one of the most contested markets in Michigan. The north is one of the least. The same budget buys wildly different results at the two ends.
- The lakes run through the middle. A whole seasonal economy sits across the northern and western townships that almost nobody writes marketing pages about.

Wealthy counties are competitive counties
Worth saying plainly, because it changes what a realistic first year looks like.
- Every agency targets here. Your prospects and your competitors both get pitched constantly. Whatever you send, it is not the first thing they read this month.
- Click costs are higher than the state average, because the customers are worth more and everyone knows it. A $3,000 ad budget goes less far in Birmingham than in Flint.
- The incumbents are genuinely good. This is not a market full of businesses with broken websites waiting to be beaten. Some of them are, but not the ones taking the work you want.
- And customers here check. Reviews get read, sites get compared, and a business with a five-second load and no reviews is filtered out before anyone calls.
None of that is a reason not to compete. It is a reason to compete on something specific, a segment, a service, a lake, a town, rather than trying to be the general answer for the whole county.

Straight answers
Which segment should I target?
The one producing your best margin, not your most volume. Most businesses discover on the call that a third of their jobs produce most of their profit and they have been marketing to the other two thirds. Bring your last twenty invoices and the answer is usually obvious in ten minutes.
Can I target more than one?
Yes, with separate pages, separate photos and separate language. What does not work is one homepage trying to speak to a Bloomfield Hills remodel and a rental turnover at the same time. It goes vague and loses both.
Is Oakland County too competitive to break into?
No, but not as a generalist. The county is wealthy enough to reward specialists and big enough that a narrow position still has real volume behind it. Owning “flat roof repair in the north county” beats being the fifteenth “roofing contractor Oakland County”.
Do lake-area businesses really need something different?
Yes. The service area is a set of lakes rather than towns, the season is sharper than the standard trades calendar, and the searches are lake names. It is one of the few genuine niches in this county that nobody has built for properly.
You are in Waterford. Does that help me if I am in Royal Oak?
Not for your rankings. Those follow your address, not ours. It helps in the ordinary ways: we can meet, we know the market, and we have driven the roads your customers drive. That is worth something, and it is not worth pretending it is worth more than it is.
What about Macomb, Wayne, or outside the metro?
We work all of it. Oakland is simply where most of our clients are, because it is where we live. Detroit Metro
